FileZilla

For some reason, I've never been satisifed with most FTP programs. CuteFTP is great, but not free, and being the cheap guy that I am, I've always been on the lookout for a decent freeware FTP program.

I ran across FileZilla (link) a few days ago and am slowly transferring all my CuteFTP accounts to it. It's a great clone and seems to actually work quite a bit faster than CuteFTP.

I just thought I'd let you know that I used to use filezilla alot. It tends to crash and do other weird things when moving medium-large directory structures. If you only need ftp (not sftp/ssh) then I would recommend smartFTP. Not many people know about it, but it's the best i've used.

What is wrong with a freeware program like WS_FTP.. i've been using that for years in a row now and everything works.. always.. all the time!!

Only drawback is that there isn't any sync feature or compleet dir removal.. but how many times do you use that??

smartftp.com is way the best. It looks better then most other FTP software and is free for personal use. An annoying pop up at start that all for personal use though (but its worth if for the software)

Worth the check out at least

Yeah, I'm wanted to wean off smartftp (SF) with filezilla, but FZ is not multi-threaded. I can have multiple sessions and navigate while a transfer is happening in SF

Agreed, SmartFTP rules.
