Presentation Tonight: Spry and ColdFusion

I'll be presenting to the Orange County ColdFusion User Group tonight. I'll be talking about Spry and ColdFusion. This meeting is open to the public. The Connect URL is http://adobechats.adobe.acrobat.com/r55725677/. The meeting time is 8:30 CST PM. The writing of this entry is really boring. I must not have had good coffee this morning.

Ray,

Will this be recorded?

The Raymond Camden Experience is far too intense to be recorded by any mechanical process known by Man. There are not enough Bits in the universe - nor enough bandwidth to contain the mightiness of my person.

Um, probably so. ;)

Ray,

Will this presentation focus on CF8 and Spry 1-6?

Comment 4 by Raymond Camden posted on 10/18/2007 at 6:05 PM

The presentation will start with an intro to Spry. It focuses on datasets and xml, which hasn't changed much since 1. I then deal with CF and Spry and it isn't version specific at first. I then have a set of examples showing how CF8 makes it easier with it's built in JSON support. It is NOT a CF8/Ajax preso though. That's a whole other thing.

I haven't spent a lot of time w/ 1.6 yet so I won't be speaking a lot about it - outside of just mentioning what was new to it. I've got a few minor UI/Effects demo, but frankly, I think most folks care about the data stuff.

Ray,
Would love to see some advanced aspects of working with CF and Spry...beyond the basics if time allows!

Comment 6 by Raymond Camden posted on 10/18/2007 at 6:50 PM

Define advanced. :) I have one hour - so I spend a good half on the basics and then basics+CF so there isn't a lot of time, but if you can give me something specific to talk about - I'll try.

This is by no means advanced but I would love to hear more about what makes Spry better than using the native CF8 Ajaxy (not a real word) features.

Well that is a matter of opinion. :) Ask me during Q and A.

Ray - I am really interested in hearing what you had to say about CF+Spry. Do you know what the recorded link is (if it's up yet)?

I would have watched it live but it was a little late for me (I'm in the UK).

Cheers
Martin
